It’s not often you find six members of one family working for the same company, even when they own it. But that’s how it is at Broderick Printing & Design. We are a family firm in the traditional sense. Because we have a vested interest in ensuring the business is a success, we are more committed to service than those which only have employees.

Six of our staff are Brodericks either by birth or marriage. And those who are not have been around the firm a very long time. Our sales team has more than 100 years experience between them in the printing and packaging industry, so when we say "we know printing", we mean it.

Meet the Broderick’s team

John Broderick

started Broderick Printing & Design with his wife Jill in 1990 after 23 years in the trade, principally with AHI and UEB. The company has grown from just one staff member to 24, and from a single colour press to the present mix of four and five-colour presses, digital and large format printing.

Assistant manager Dennis Mortlock has been with Broderick’s 15 years and in the printing industry for 33. Dennis is a sports nut and especially enjoys watching cricket and rugby.  

Jonny Broderick (son of John) has been working at Broderick Printing since he was knee-high. After completing a university degree he did a cadetship at Spicers Paper before returning “home” to become the company’s (mobile) sales and marketing manager. Jonny, too, is sports-mad and is keen on keeping fit, travelling and gardening.   

Production Manager David Dyson Booth has worked in pretty much every job there is in the printing industry. Nowadays he controls every aspect of the day-to-day running of Broderick’s print factory. He hires the staff, orders the paper, controls the inventory and checks every job. David is, of course, fanatical about sport and takes a keen interest in family, friends and American cars.

Grant Thorpe began his print industry experience in England in 1991. He has been with Brodericks since 2001 and is currently studying for a Diploma in Print Management. Grant has played cricket since he was 13 and represented England in the Under 19 team in a test series. He plays premier grade for the Grafton United Club.

Doug Bond, sales representative and account manager, has had over 30 years sales experience in the printing and carton packaging industry. He has been with Broderick Print for 12 years and is a long-time Auckland rugby supporter who jogs to keep fit and enjoys the company of his family and grandchildren. 

If you think Broderick’s is beginning to sound like a male-only domain – you’d be wrong. The "girls" star on the front line and in the office. John’s wife Jill is the company secretary and, with Noeleen and Natalie, deals with the accounts. Because they have all worked in the production side of the business, in prepress, design and bindery, they have a good understanding of the entire process. These three take pride in their work and are always happy to go the extra mile.
